Marion County Board of County Commissioners Agenda and Video

Thank you for your interest in county government. The Board of County Commissioners holds its regularly scheduled meeting the first and third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. All board meetings are open to the public and are held in the McPherson Complex Auditorium (601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala). For a complete list of Board of County Commissioners activities, see the commission calendar.

Placement on the Commission Agenda

Any citizen who wishes to be placed on the agenda must submit a request in writing stating the date he or she wishes to appear and the subject matter to be discussed (County Commission Policy 93-13). Supporting information or background data to assist the commission is also requested. The request to appear must be submitted to the county administrator by 12 p.m. at least 11 days prior the next commission meeting (the second Friday prior to the board meeting date). Requests should be mailed to: Marion County Administrator, 601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471.

The citizen will be listed under “General Public Items,” and will have five minutes to make a presentation (unless additional time is granted by the board chairman). If an overhead projector will be needed, please include this information in the request letter to the county administrator. The County Commission office will notify the requestor of the date and approximate time he or she will appear before the board.

Anyone who addresses the board will need to state his or her name and address and speak clearly into the microphone. If distributing additional back up material, please provide the county administrator with 10 copies prior to the beginning of the commission meeting.

Speaking at public hearings

Anyone from the public may participate in discussion held at public hearings. Discussion is limited to the item listed on the meeting’s agenda. The board chairman will call for interested parties to be heard as each item for discussion is introduced. Parties interested in speaking should ask for recognition by coming to the front of the auditorium and standing at either speaker's lectern. The individual will need to give his or her name and address and indicate who he or she represents. All public hearings will be advertised according to law.
