The Animal Center is the county wide receiving facility for housing stray, quarantined, and unwanted domestic animals. These animals are brought to the center by citizens finding strays, pet owners that no longer want their pets, County Code Enforcement Officers, Ocala City Animal Control Officers and other city municipalities. The center also serves in the procurement of licenses in compliance with local and state laws. The center aids and promotes the prevention of cruelty to animals.
