MARION COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS
NOTICE OF ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
FOR VACANCIES ON VOLUNTEER ADVISORY BOARDS
The Marion County Board of County
Commissioners currently has vacancies on the following volunteer
boards: |
1. Pine Run MSTU Advisory Council
(1 Full member/2 year term)
(3 Full members/4 year term)
Applicants must be a resident of Pine Run. Responsibilities
include: participate in preparation of annual budget
request; review and comment on programs, activities, goals
and objectives and make recommendations on these and other
issues as directed by the Board of County Commissioners.
2. Marion Oaks MSTU General Services Advisory Council
(1 Full member/4 year term)
Applicants may participate in preparation of annual budget,
review and comment on current and past programs, activities,
operations, goals and objectives of the district and make
recommendations on these issues or other issues the Board of
County Commissioners may refer to the council.
3. Marion County Hospital District Board of Trustees
(2 Full Member/4 year term)
Applicants operate and maintain the Marion County Hospital
District created by special act of the Florida Legislature
and oversee and operate Munroe Regional Medical Center.
(Note: Terms expire June 30)
4. Golden Hills Turf & Country Club MSTU for Road
Improvements Advisory Council
(1 Full member/3 year term)
Applicants make recommendations to the Board of County
Commissioners regarding budget for the MSTU; activities,
goals and objectives and other issues the Board of County
Commissioners may request.
5. Well Florida Council
(1 Full member/2 year term) (Purchaser Category)
Well Florida Council is a resource for county health
departments, community-based organizations, government
agencies and healthcare facilities. Known for producing
county health needs assessments, Well Florida also partners
with organizations to develop new programs, create Community
Heath Centers, and obtain large grants for community based
program. In addition, Well Florida is an umbrella for a
number of non-profits, including: Healthy Start of North
Central Florida, Central Healthy Start, North Central
Florida Ryan White CARE Program, and Rural Health
Partnership of North Central Florida. Board members oversee
Well Florida’s budget, advocate for Well Florida’s services
and advice County Commissioners on health planning for their
counties, the region and the state. Meetings take place at
Well Florida Council in Gainesville.
6. Silver Springs Shores Special Tax District Advisory
Council
(3 vacancies – 4 year terms commencing 11/2008 – applicants
will be elected by residents of Silver Springs Shores in
November election) INDIVIDUALS APPOINTED TO THIS BOARD
BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SERVE ONLY UNTIL THE
NEXT REGULAR ELECTION.
Applicants must be registered voters and residents of Silver
Springs Shores Special Tax District and are elected by
residents in the November election. To qualify as a
candidate, a Letter of Intent must be filed with the
Supervisor of Elections Office located at P.O. Box 289,
Ocala, FL 34478-0289, phone (352) 620-3290. The qualifying
period is noon June 16, 2008 through noon June 20, 2008.
Responsibilities will include: advising the Governing Body
(Marion County Commission) on all matters pertaining to the
recreation services and facilities, street lighting and law
enforcement in Silver Springs Shores Special Tax District.

The Board of County Commissioners plans to appoint members on
Tuesday, June 3, 2008. |
