Mission Statement
The Community
Services Department will provide income
eligible residents with opportunities for
housing, health care and infrastructure
in an equitable, honest, and respectful
manner, while ensuring fiscal accountability.
Welcome
to Marion County’s Community Services Department. This
Department is responsible for coordinating and implementing
programs that address housing, infrastructure, and health services
for very-low, low, and moderate-income residents. The
Community Development Division administers the County’s Community
Development Block Grant Program, which provides infrastructure
improvements and public facilities in low income neighborhoods.
Our Housing and Human Services Division utilizes HOME Investment
Partnership Program (HOME) and State Housing Initiatives Partnership
(SHIP) funds to provide affordable housing opportunities for
our citizens. Marion County’s Indigent Health Care Model
has won national acclaim. Our role involves screening clients
for eligibility and financial oversight for a variety of programs
such as out-of-county emergency care, Medicaid reimbursement,
unclaimed bodies, Medical Examiner, prescription services, and
other health related activities. We invite you to learn about
the many programs and projects administered by our Department
as well as some of our accomplishments.
