   Marion County meetings

The Marion County Board of Commissioners holds its regularly scheduled meetings in the McPherson Complex Auditorium (601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala) on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. The zoning portion of the meeting is held on the third Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. All commission and zoning meetings are open to the public.

General public items, public hearings, consent agenda items and other items that the board is expected to discuss are posted on this page by the Friday before each board meeting. Items are downloadable for your convenience. Meeting minutes and video are also posted; to watch meetings live, click on the "LIVE" link beside the meeting you are interested in viewing. Previously aired meetings will show as "Video" in search results. Placement on the commission agenda

Citizens who wish to be placed on the agenda must submit a request in writing stating the date he or she wishes to appear and the subject matter to be discussed (County Commission Policy 93-13). Supporting information or background data to assist the commission is also requested. The request to appear must be submitted to the county administrator by 12 p.m. at least 11 days prior the next commission meeting (the second Friday prior to the board meeting date). Requests should be mailed to: Marion County Administrator, 601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471.

The citizen will be listed under “General Public Items,” and will have five minutes to make a presentation (unless additional time is granted by the board chairman). If an overhead projector will be needed, please include this information in the request letter to the county administrator. The County Commission office will notify the requestor of the date and approximate time he or she will appear before the board.

Anyone who addresses the board will need to state his or her name and address for the record and speak clearly into the microphone. If distributing additional back-up material, please provide the county administrator with 10 copies prior to the beginning of the commission meeting.

Speaking at board meeting and public hearings

Anyone from the public may participate in discussion held at public hearings. Discussion is limited to the item listed on the meeting’s agenda. The board chairman will call for interested parties to be heard as each item for discussion is introduced. Parties interested in speaking should walk to the front of the auditorium and stand at either speaker's lectern to be recognized by the board. The individual will need to give his or her name and address and indicate who he or she represents. All public hearings will be advertised according to law.
