Marion County will receive stimulus funds through both the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

The Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) was authorized through the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. Marion County will receive a one-time grant of $6,324,055 to provide targeted emergency assistance to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities.

The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) was authorized through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Marion County will receive a one-time grant of $727,072 to provide financial assistance and services to either prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless or to help those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized.

A special additional allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds (CDBG-R) was authorized through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Marion County will receive an additional $475,454 in CDBG funds to carry out, on an expedited basis, eligible activities under the CDBG program.
