FY&N Handbook

fyn guide

Your yard is the first line of defense for Marion County's fragile environment. The health of our rivers, lakes, and aquifer depends, in part, on how you landscape and maintain your yard. The FY&N program was developed by the University of Florida IFAS and the National Estuary Program to address the home environment. One of the program goals is to help residents create and maintain Florida friendly yards.

A Guide to Environmentally Friendly Landscaping is a handbook developed for residents to assist in understanding and incorporating Florida-friendly practices. The handbook contains concepts, tools, techniques, and tips on cost-saving, energy-efficient landscape maintenance. Also included is an 80-page Florida-friendly plant list. (For a free hard-copy visit the Marion County Extension Service.)

A FY&N Yard Certification program is available for free to residents who complete all requirements. Participants who complete the program will be awarded a certificate and FY&N yard sign.
