Renewable Energy/Alternative Fuels

Energy from the Sun? Energy from animal waste?  Yep, it's all possible!

Let's face it, Marion County is not lacking in horse manure or sunshine, both of which are viable alternative energy sources.

Animal waste can be converted to a gas that is burned to generate electricity. Various crops like corn, switchgrass, sugarcane, and even algae can be used to produce ethanol, a cleaner burning additive to gasoline. Used vegetable oil can also be converted to run diesel engines.

Looking up, due to better technology and lower costs, solar power is rapidly becoming one of the most popular renewable energy sources for residential and commercial buildings.  Over the years, solar equipment has become moreefficient at converting sunlight to energy for heating water and generating electricity. Associated costs have continued to decreased substantially as demand and popularity has steadily risen. In support of clean energy, the state and federal government have offered tax incentives to further help with costs.

We provide information and classes in renewable energy options.
