Marion County has experienced Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Wildfires, and Localized
Flooding. Marion County has hosted evacuees from other counties and provided
logistical support for other counties during emergencies. Preparation for these
eventualities equals lives saved when the time comes. |

Marion
County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management
In 1988 at the request of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, the
Marion County Sheriff’s Office formed the Division of Emergency Management. For
16 years, the division has coordinated the emergency response and preparations
among local, state and federal agencies.
