Job Descriptions and Pay Grades

On March 18, 2008, Marion County Commissioners approved an organizational structure that will enable Marion County Fire Rescue to provide ambulance service, effective October 1, 2008. As a result of the dissolution of the current ambulance service, Marion County will offer several new positions.

The job posting process lasts from April 4, 2008 – May 16, 2008 for the following positions. Marion County’s Human Resources Department will not accept applications until the official posting date. For questions about these positions, please call Marion County’s Human Resources Department at (352) 438-2345. This list is subject to change.

(NOTE:  Dual-Cert FF/PM, FF/EMT are reserved for single-certified EMSA paramedics and EMSA EMTs who will become firefighters within three years. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE CURRENTLY DUAL-CERTIFIED TO APPLY FOR THESE POSITIONS.)


These positions will be posted Friday, April 4, 2008, and will be available for EMSA personnel to apply until Friday, May 16th. They will be emailed to EMSA’s HR office and posted on their bulletin board. A link will be provided on the County Fire Rescue website. After the May 16th deadline, the positions will be opened to others for application.

ATTENTION EMSA Applicants Only:

Single Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Single Certified Paramedic (PM) applications are now being accepted. These positions will remain open
with the closing date of May 23, 2008 at 4:30.

EMSA Applicants and County personnel may apply for the following positions starting April 4, 2008:

Staff Assistant III (5) (Finance, Support Services, Operat.-EMS)
Staff Assistant II (3) (Prevention, Support Services, Fire Rescue)

These positions will be posted during the same timeframe as the ‘EMSA ONLY’ positions. They will be advertised in the same manner, but will also be posted as County In-House openings.

EMSA Applicants, County personnel and outside candidates may apply for the following positions starting April 4, 2008:

Compliance Officer (Employee Relations Group)

These positions will be available to EMSA personnel, County personnel, and outside. The Outside Postings will be “Opened Until Filled.”
