Dry Hydrant Example

Marion County Fire Rescue inspectors have identified and tagged more than 4,000 fire hydrants throughout Marion County. They also routinely update hydrant information and provide it to dispatchers and firefighters so crews can locate the closest fire hydrants during fire emergencies. Although hydrant maintenance is the responsibility of Marion County's 20-plus utility companies and hydrant owners, MCFR has a vested interest in the operational readiness of the fire hydrants. That's why firefighters test them once a year and document the hydrant's capabilities.
