Sunrise to Sunset
The Forest Community Center at Sandhill Park was completed in 2011 with U.S HUD Community Development Block Grant funds and in-kind services provided by the Marion County Facilities Management and Parks and Recreation departments. The first block grant award, in the amount of $350,000, provided passive park amenities including a pavilion, playground unit and boardwalk. A second grant award, in the amount of $560,000, facilitated the expansion and renovation of the former Forest Library into a community center. The Forest Community Center at Sandhill Park is adjacent to a sheriff’s substation, tax collector’s office, recycling center, fire station and the new Forest Public Library, complementing the hub of public services offered on adjacent parcels.
The Forest Community Center at Sandhill Park provides meeting space, a game room, playground, picnic pavilion and boardwalk to the adjacent Forest Public Library.
