Marion County residents can now apply for reimbursements for septic maintenance and repair through “Run for the Springs” program

Thanks to our community’s participation in the annual Run for the Springs 5K event last April, Marion County residents have an opportunity to obtain reimbursements for septic system maintenance and repair this fall.

Home and business owners in unincorporated Marion County using septic systems are eligible for reimbursement through the 2017-2018 Run for the Springs grant program. Qualified applicants may receive up to $125 for septic system inspections and pumping by septic service professionals and up to $250 toward a septic system repair permit.

Our springs-rich community relies on the proper care and use of residential and commercial septic systems to protect the health of our drinking water. To encourage the industry-suggested maintenance routine for septic systems of once every 3 to 5 years, Marion County Stormwater Management Section provides incentives such as the Run for the Springs grant program to Marion County residents throughout the year.

Interested? Visit www.marioncountyfl.org/stormwater for the grant application and instructions. For more information on available grants and reimbursements, contact Zach Rountree at 352-671-8686 or stormwater@marioncountyfl.org.
