Land Use Information:
Customers may obtain information about a property's land use
designation and if a proposed development is consistent with that
designation. Information on changing a land use designation and
the relationship of land use and zoning is also available.
Applications are accepted periodically to amend the
Comprehensive Plan, both for public requests and County initiated
requests. These timeframes and amendments are advertised in the
Ocala Star Banner. Applications are distributed and processed by
the Planning Department, for applicable fees.
Concurrency/Development Review: County Planners review
development plans to ensure there is adequate capacity in our
public facilities to support development as required by the County
Comprehensive Plan and Florida State Law, and that the development
complies with all provisions of the Comprehensive Plan.
Impact
Fees: Ensures
that new development will pay their fair share of the cost
associated with providing facilities such as roads, fire
stations and schools.
Population and Demographic Information: Customers can
obtain certain population and demographic information, or be
referred to agencies and offices with other specialized
information.
Road and Traffic Information: Customers may obtain
traffic count and road improvement information for the County, and
on a limited basis for the various municipalities.
Scenic Roads:
Marion County proudly has designated many scenic roads throughout
the County by Ordinance 97-1. Information on scenic roads and a
scenic road map are available at the Planning Department. A Scenic
Roads Advisory Committee has been established. Nomination cycles,
for proposing that additional roads be designated as scenic, will
be scheduled in the near future. Anyone can nominate a road using
the nomination form, and all nominations will be scheduled for
public hearing.
County Maps: A variety of county-wide maps, including but
not limited to, land use designations, census areas, general
highways, governmental boundaries, school districts, voting
districts, etc., may be obtained.
