Utilities Water Services

The Floridian Aquifer provides most of Marion County with clean, fresh tasting water. Marion County Utilities is committed to provide our customers with this natural resource. To do this, our water undergoes bacteriological testing, mineral testing and is evaluated for clarity and freshness. Depending on the test results, Chlorine may be is added for disinfection and or the water may need balancing to correct hardness or softness issues. After these steps are taken, the water is sent through our distribution pipes to our customers.

But how exactly does water go from a well to your home? When the water is drawn from the well, its first stop is a Water Treatment Plant. Here it goes through the numerous tests to determine quality. The water is then sent through various underground pipes to your house. At this point, it goes through a water meter, which tracks the amount of water you use, and then into your home.
