Placement on the commission agenda
Citizens who wish to be placed on the agenda must submit a request stating the date he or she wishes to appear and the subject matter to be discussed (County Commission Policy 93-13). Supporting materials or background data to assist the Commission may also be requested. The request to speak must be submitted to County Administration by 5 p.m. at least seven days prior the next commission meeting (Tuesday of the week prior to the meeting). Requests can be mailed to or dropped off in person to: Marion County Administration, 601 SE 25th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471. Citizens may also call 352-438-2300. Through this process, the citizens will be listed in the agenda under “General Public Items” and will have five minutes to make a presentation. Those who do not submit a request in accordance with the above guidelines are still welcome to sign up to speak on the day of the meeting, but will only be allotted two minutes.

Anyone from the public may participate in discussion held at public hearings. Discussion is limited to the item listed on the meeting’s agenda. Parties interested in speaking should walk to the front of the auditorium and stand at either speaker's lectern to be recognized by the board.
