Marion County Solid Waste operates 18 recycling centers throughout the county that accept both recycling and household garbage. Residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county pay an annual assessment fee to utilize the recycling centers at no additional cost, but also have the option to contract with private franchise haulers for curbside pickup and other services; click here for a list of vendors. All residents of incorporated areas within the county, businesses and those wanting to dispose of more than what is accepted at the recycling centers can utilize the Marion County Baseline Landfill.

Residents living in incorporated cities and towns and outside the county also have an opportunity to use the recycling centers with purchase of an annual permit. Permits cost $100 each year, and are transferrable to a maximum of three registered vehicles per household. Click here for an application. Applications with required documentation should be brought to the Solid Waste administration office (5601 SE 66th St., Ocala). Check, cash and credit cards are accepted. Applications will be processed on site and permit will be issued once all is verified.
Commercial users do not pay the solid waste assessment and are not permitted to dispose of trash or recyclables at the recycling centers. Businesses can utilize the Marion County Baseline Landfill and contact Solid Waste at 352-671-8465 for a list of programs.
