Permits no longer accepted via:
- Fax as of June 1, 2017.
- Mail or delivery services as of Aug. 1, 2017
(includes U.S. postal service, UPS, FedEx, etc.)
- Drop off box as of Aug. 14, 2017

Permit applications will be accepted via e-plansemail and in person.
*Contractors and authorized agents may submit select permit applications to our general building permits.
Additional instructions for e-applications may be found here.
Homeowners acting as contractors must appear in person to apply for permits.

Florida Building Code 6th edition is in effect as of Dec. 31, 2017.

Marion County Building Safety strives to ensure the health, safety and public welfare of the built environment in Marion County by enforcing the Florida Building Code and related Marion County ordinances in an efficient and cost-effective manner. To ensure a safe built environment, the department issues permits, reviews plans, verifies contractor licenses and performs inspections for each project.
