As preparedness and prevention guidelines continue to be redefined, Marion County government updates our procedures by putting the safety of our community and staff first. The below list of operational changes are effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Canceled county events and programs that are able to be rescheduled will be announced to the public as this information becomes available. 

- County community centers are closed:

  • Forest Community Center at Sandhill Park, 777 S. County Road 314A, Ocklawaha
  • Hills of Ocala meeting room, 10475 SW 136th Terrace, Dunnellon
  • Marion Oaks Community Center, 294 Marion Oaks Lane, Ocala
  • Rainbow Lakes Estates Community Center, 19514 SW Rainbow Lakes Blvd., Dunnellon
  • Silver Springs Shores Community Center, 590 Silver Road, Ocala
- Marion County government buildings are closed to the public. However, services will continue to be provided per regular schedule.
- Boat ramps at county-owned facilities are closed until further notice, excluding Heagy Burry.
- Boat ramps at state-owned facilities are closed until further notice. These include:
  • Orange Springs boat ramp
  • Eureka East boat ramp
  • Eureka West boat ramp
  • Goes Landing boat ramp

Animal Services 352-671-8700
- Residents who have lost their pets should first check the Animal Services’ website to see if their pet is in the custody of the shelter. Appointments will be made during business hours to reclaim lost pets. Owners may call 352-671-8700 or email animalservices@marioncountyfl.org to connect with MCAS staff.
- Other business, to include pet adoptions, will be conducted by appointment only and during normal business hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call 352-671-8700.
- For after-hour emergencies, please call 352-732-9111.
- All appointments will require a pre-screening interview which will be conducted by phone.
- Neuter Commuter services and public surgeries are suspended until further notice. Residents who have already booked an appointment for their pet may be rescheduled for a later date, once normal operations resume.
- MCAS staff will continue to work and provide care for the animals in their custody.

Building Safety 352-438-2400
- Business will be conducted by electronic means, phone and, if necessary, by appointment.
- A drop-off location is available at 2710 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.
- Inspections will not be affected by this schedule.

- Open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-noon until further notice.

Canceled: Planning & Zoning meeting previously scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on March 30, will be rescheduled at a later date and publicly noticed.

Judicial Center/courthouse 352-671-5604
- Closed through March 27, except for essential hearings as determined by administrative order A-2020-12-B from the Fifth Judicial Court.

- The Office of the County Engineer can be reached by phone at 352-671-8686 or by email at Roads@MarionCountyFL.org.
- For right-of-way or driveway permits, please feel free to continue to reach out to us at Permitting@MarionCountyFL.org or through other email addresses and contacts you are accustomed to using to do business with us.
- Business will be conducted by electronic means, phone and, if necessary, by appointment.
- A drop-off location is available.

Parks and Recreation 352-671-8560
- All county sports complexes are closed until further use.
- All pavilions, playgrounds and restrooms at all county parks and recreation areas are closed until further notice.
- Southeastern Livestock Pavilion: All events have been cancelled until further notice. 
Entry fees for single-day use of all county parks have been waived, effective immediately. Equipment rentals, facility deposits and all other fees still apply.

Boat ramps at county-owned facilities are closed until further notice, excluding Heagy Burry.

- The office of the Marion County Property Appraiser is closed to the public.
- Statutory duties will continue to be performed and the public will have access to services via phone and web during business hours.

- All buildings are closed to the public.

Sheriff 352-732-8181
- At this time Marion County Sheriff’s Office will remain open to include their district offices. 
- There will be limited access to offices to include no personal contact except for felony registration.
- For all other inquiries, please call 352-732-8181 during normal business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
- For non-emergency phone calls, please call 352-732-9111.

Supervisor of Elections 352-620-3290
- Office is closed
- If needed, and at the discretion of the Supervisor of Elections and under limited circumstances, an in-person meeting can be scheduled. 
- For questions, please call 352-620-3290 during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Tax Collector 352-368-8200
- All eight of the Marion County Tax Collector Offices will be closed to the public
- Customers can do most transactions through the call center at 352-368-8200
- Clerks can accept credit cards and ACH electronic check transfers.
- Business hours will remain 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday – Friday
- Customers can visit www.MarionTax.com for more information
- Customer mail will be opened and processed daily.

Utilities 352-307-6000
- Business will be conducted through the drive-through, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
- You can call their 24-hour emergency service line at 352-307-6000.
